Description

It was popular among herbalists, especially in the Yagenbori workshop in Edo (now Tokyo), reputed to have created this seven spices blend in 1625.
At that time, the mixture was named Yagenbori after the store that invented it.

Traditional shichimi contains hot chili pepper and citrus peel powder, black sesame and other ingredients that may be different depending on the manufacturer.

Traditional mixture is called "shichimi", not because it is composed of 7 ingredients, but because number "7" is considered a lucky number.
The use of 7 ingredients is not compulsory, which explains why our blend only contains 6 ingredients.

Citrus peel brings the necessary sweetness to counterbalance chili spiciness.

Our perfect pairings : Shichimi togarashi is essential when enjoying soba and udon noodles.
You will also appreciate it on white cabbage salads, raw vegetables, pasta, potatoes, meat or fish tartars, broths...
