Tonka beans is very fragant, gives off warm and sweet notes reminiscent of the scents of sweet almond and cut hay. A closer look reveals creamy notes of leather, wax, almond and vanilla. Some will perceive a touch of caramel, tobacco or honey.
Tonka bean belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is contained in the fruit of Brazilian teak (precious and rotproof tropical wood). It has long been used in cosmetics and more particularly in perfumery, and has only recently conquered our plates.
